Sophie & Ricky, Mitterdale Forest, Eskdale, Cumbria

Hay Hay

Hope you are all ready and looking forward to Christmas. Usually a quiet time for a wedding photographer, but I’ve been super busy with a number of different types of shoots… families, corporate head shots, weddings and here’s my favourites from a recent engagement shoot.

Engagement Photography, Lake District, Cumbria

If there was ever a couple suited to an engagement shoot in the Lake District National Park, it was these too. I love shooting with couples in locations that capture their personality and relationship they share together. Here is Sophie and Ricky along with their gorgeous wolf pack, Sirius, Shae, Altai and Zorro.

Ricky & Sophie along with Sirius, She, Altai and Zorro

Sophie and Ricky live for nature, wildlife, the outdoors and adventure! Todays shoot took us to the more remote but ever stunning Eskdale to the West of the Lake District National Park. What fun we had along with the wolf pack, visiting areas they spend much of their time exploring together.

Again, I was on the same set up as usual with a small addition. This was the first shoot with my new second camera, opening up the chance to easily swop between varying focal lengths, an element super useful on a wedding day!

We started the shoot up Irton Pike, Eskdale before exploring deep into Mitterdale forest, Eskdale Green, Beckfoot, Boot and the River Esk. The dogs played their park in front of the camera really well… most of the time, haha!

We started the shoot with Sophie and Ricky along with Sirius, Shae, Altai and Zorro, as we heading up Irton Pike. Once we had a fun and interesting hour or so we focused more on them as a couple, and the dogs sat the rest of the afternoon out.

We were super lucky with the weather, with a gloomy start the sun broke through the clouds to create some varying lighting conditions. I love to use back light, creating a warm natural light, which I find works well with a couple or engagement shoot, as long as I’m careful and accurate with my exposures in order to save my highlights, without under exposing the subjects too much.

We headed deep into the Mitterdale Forest, with the sun breaking through the tree tops, creating some interesting, dramatic and moody images.

I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Sophie and Ricky, whilst really looking forward to their wedding late next year. Anyone that knows me I am a massive dog lover with five of my own, with a passion for the Cumbrian fells and the outdoors. Certainly a common theme throughout this shoot. I’m happy with the results, creating a varied gallery, across a number of locations that are meaningful to the couple! I really hope you guys like the results, and as always thank you for visiting!

If you have any questions about my approach or what I offer please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I offer a full day package for only £595 along with couple, family or personal portrait photography. Christmas is coming, why not treat your partner, parents, grandparents or loved ones with some memories. I can help with printing and framing, ideal for a meaningful gift this Christmas, or maybe plan a photography session for the new year and have something to look forward to.

Thanks for visiting. Hope to hear from you soon.
